Providing Goods and Services to Members and Guests with Disabilities

1. Our mission

Caledon Ski Club is committed to providing safe and dependable skiing and snowboarding for the members and guests of Caledon.

2. Our commitment

In fulfilling our mission, Caledon Ski Club strives at all times to provide its goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of members and guests with disabilities. We are also committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our goods and services and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other individuals.

3. Providing goods and services to people with disabilities

Caledon Ski Club is committed to excellence in serving all members and their guests including people with disabilities.

The Club provides annual training to all Managers, Employees and Volunteers who interact with the membership on its behalf, in order to serve them effectively.  The training will be appropriate for the position and will address the required specifics tailored towards the situations likely to be encountered.

Caledon Ski Club staff are trained on how to communicate with customers over the telephone in an appropriate manner.  If required, other forms of communication will be utilized such as regular or electronic email.

The Club is committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices while visiting our facility. We will ensure that our staff is trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities.

We will also ensure that appropriate staff is trained on how to use the assistive devices available on our premises for customers; the West Lodge Stair Lift, and Main Lodge Elevator

The Club is committed to providing accessible invoices to all of our members. We will answer any questions members may have about the content of the invoice in person, by telephone or e-mail, or provide another format if desired.

Caledon Ski Club is proud of its tradition of allowing access to its slopes and facilities to those with disabilities; including our ski lifts.  Passengers with approved assistive devices will have full access to use terrain that is suited to their abilities.

We are committed to welcoming members and their guests with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal in the areas of the Club that are open to our membership. We will also ensure that all staff, volunteers and others dealing with our membership are properly trained on how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal.

Caledon is also committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. Any member or guest with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter the Club with his or her support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person while on our premises, unless it is deemed unsafe for them to do so.

Caledon Ski Club is committed to providing full access to its facility for members and their guests with disabilities.  All members or guests of Caledon Ski Club must pay the applicable annual fee or daily guest ticket price for use of the facility unless a medical leave has been granted in advance as per the Club rules.  Caledon Ski Club will provide a daily guest ticket free of charge, for the support person of any disabled member or guest if required.

Caledon Ski Club will provide customers with notice in the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services usually used by people with disabilities such as elevators, lifts and barrier free washrooms. This notice will be posted in a visible location and will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.

Comments and feedback on our services regarding our services for the disabled are welcome and appreciated; in person and through regular electronic mail.

Copies of our customer service standard are available upon request.
